almost autumn
moving my recliner
closer to new sun

today I have
an appointment
with the light and books
in my small study

home from mailing
poetry notes
monarch butterfly
greets me
at the back door

losses in life
low setting sun
through branches of trees
now rises again
as birds quietly sing

reading a new book
the fragrance
of fresh paper

reading journals
new generation of poets
since I began
